AutoSuggest creation:

Dictionary creation with the revolutionary new AutoSuggest feature only exists within the Professional version. The Freelance version will enable translators to open and use AutoSuggest dictionaries, but they will not be able to create them. AutoSuggest could significantly increase translation speed and provide users with sub-segment matches.

SDL PerfectMatch™:

Create PerfectMatches (in-context 100% matches) by leveraging your previously translated bilingual files. The SDL PerfectMatch component of SDL Trados 2007 Suite will still be available for this purpose. Users on the Freelance edition will be able to use PerfectMatches, but not create them.

Automated project preparation and distribution:

Create and distribute projects with SDL Package technology - you can only open and return packages in the Freelance version

Unlimited language support:

Work with as many languages as you want - the Freelance version supports up to 5 languages (which are selected upon installation)

SDL Package for increased efficiency

SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP2 Professional includes the SDL Package for quick and easy distribution of projects. It contains all related project files (including TMs, termbases and deadlines) and can be sent to anyone in the SDL translation supply chain. The Freelance version allows users to open and return packages, but not create and send them.

Working on a network

Only SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP2 Professional can work within an office (domain-based) network. SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP2 Freelance cannot be started or used on corporate (domain-based) networks.
Also with the Professional version, it is possible for translators to work interactively on a networked translation memory. Please note that there may be performance limitations when sharing desktop based translation memories over a network. A server is recommended for optimal TM sharing within a team.

Reduce review time with SDL PerfectMatch™

SDL PerfectMatch ensures 100% matches are in-context before being applied to a project. Users can create "PerfectMatches" by leveraging bilingual files via the SDL PerfectMatch component of SDL Trados 2007 Suite Professional, which will still be available for this purpose. The Freelance edition will be able to open and use PerfectMatches processed by the Professional version, but not create them.

Work with an unlimited number of languages!

SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP2 Professional supports virtually any language combination (including Eastern European, Asian, Arabic and Hebrew) in an unlimited number of languages. SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP2 Freelance provides the same variety of languages, however only supports up to 5 different languages (these are selected on installation of the software).
